Yazan Mishaan al-Jubouri Sentenced to Five Years in Prison in 41 Billion Dinar Fraud Case
The Iraqi Federal Integrity Commission has revealed details of a major fraud case involving Yazan Mishaan al-Jubouri, who was convicted of obtaining 41 billion Iraqi dinars after falsely claiming to serve as an advisor to the Prime Minister.
Five-Year Prison Sentence Issued by Anti-Corruption Court
The Federal Integrity Commission announced that the Central Anti-Corruption Criminal Court issued a sentence of five years of rigorous imprisonment against Yazan Mishaan al-Rakkad al-Jubouri.
According to the commission, the ruling was issued under Article 456 of the Iraqi Penal Code after charges of fraud and deception were proven against him.
Fraud Conducted Through False Claims of Official Influence
According to the commission’s statement, Yazan Mishaan al-Jubouri, who serves as Secretary-General of the al-Watan Party, deceived the complainant by falsely presenting himself as an advisor to the Prime Minister.
In return for promising to arrange an official meeting with the Prime Minister and provide administrative facilitations, he obtained 41 billion Iraqi dinars (approximately $26.1 million) from the complainant.
Court investigations found that in 2024, the convict claimed to possess political influence that could resolve the complainant’s legal and business matters.
The investigation further revealed that he exploited a fugitive suspect, who acted as an authorized manager of one of the complainant’s companies, to facilitate the withdrawal and transfer of the funds.
Court Findings and Final Judgment
After reviewing the full case file and supporting evidence, the Central Anti-Corruption Criminal Court concluded that Yazan Mishaan al-Jubouri deliberately engaged in deception to unlawfully obtain private funds.
The court subsequently issued the prison sentence as part of efforts to deter fraud and the impersonation of senior state officials.
