The corruption case involving former Iraqi Ministry of Oil Deputy Adnan al-Jumaili continues to expand, with the total value of seized cash and assets in the case now exceeding 98 billion Iraqi dinars.

An additional 67 Billion Dinars and $1 Million Discovered

The Supreme Judicial Council of Iraq announced that ongoing investigations led to the seizure of an additional 67 billion Iraqi dinars and 1 million U.S. dollars.

According to the council, the funds were hidden inside the homes of several individuals, while part of the money had been buried underground at a depth of four meters before being located and excavated by investigators.

Based on official statistics from the Criminal and Anti-Corruption Court, the total cash seized in the case has now reached 98 billion Iraqi dinars and 11 million U.S. dollars.

Authorities have also confiscated 3 kilograms and 500 grams of gold, 71 real estate properties across Baghdad, Erbil, and Salah al-Din, in addition to a large quantity of weapons and ammunition recovered from al-Jumaili’s residence.

Investigations Expand Following Confessions

The confessions of Adnan al-Jumaili led to a broader investigation and the arrest of Raed al-Jubouri, former Governor of Salah al-Din and former Director of Health in the governorate.

Al-Jubouri, who is both a doctor and politician, faces accusations linked to corruption involving hospital construction and public service projects.

In a previous development, security forces also arrested al-Jumaili’s wife and brother.

They are accused of attempting to burn billions of dinars and more than 5 million U.S. dollars inside a traditional baking oven at their home in the al-Ishaqi area in an effort to destroy evidence before security forces searched.

Broader Anti-Corruption Measures Continue

As part of the wider anti-corruption campaign, Iraqi Member of Parliament Alaa al-Haidari announced the arrest of Manaf Abdel-Monem, Director General of Iraqi Airways.

Abdel-Monem, who supervised the rehabilitation project for grounded aircraft, faces accusations of embezzling more than 115 billion Iraqi dinars.

Separately, the Iraqi Integrity Commission announced a five-year severe prison sentence against Yazan Mishaan al-Jubouri.

According to investigations, al-Jubouri was convicted of fraud and exploiting false influence after obtaining 41 billion dinars from a complainant by claiming he could arrange a meeting and facilitate matters with the Prime Minister.
