The Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs has launched the first phase of unifying its Sector One and Sector Two regional commands, marking a critical milestone in transforming the Kurdish military into a unified, institutionalized defense force.

Senior leadership announced that the sweeping institutional overhaul, backed heavily by the international coalition, is now 95% complete. However, officials noted that a pivotal security agreement with Washington is fast approaching its conclusion.

Bridging the Commands: Phase One Complete

Military officials confirmed that the integration of Sector One and Sector Two commands has successfully concluded its initial phase. The operational restructuring aims to eliminate partisan divisions and centralize command control under the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

The Commander of Sector One emphasized that extensive tactical training and strategic drills provided by Global Coalition forces were instrumental in executing the merger smoothly.

"The training provided by the Coalition has been of immense benefit to our personnel," the Commander stated. "The Peshmerga has consistently played a decisive role in safeguarding the security of the Kurdistan Region, and our forces have never posed a threat to any external party."

The 95% Reform Mark and the U.S. Deadline

Speaking on the strategic trajectory of the force, the Minister of Peshmerga Affairs declared that the military is stepping into an unprecedented historical era, characterized by modernization and strict organizational discipline.

The Minister revealed that 95% of the ministry’s comprehensive reform agenda has been completed. Despite this momentum, a critical timeline is looming over the final stages of integration: a foundational memorandum of understanding with the United States is set to expire next April.

A Call for Continued Coalition Presence

While praising the "historic and bright relationship" shared with international partners, Kurdish leadership issued a direct appeal for extended Western military backing to ensure the final 5% of the transition does not stall.

"On an international level, the Peshmerga is recognized as a disciplined, legitimate force," the Minister of Peshmerga stated, adding that the ministry holds a formal bilateral agreement with the U.S. Department of Defense. "It is our distinct hope that Coalition forces will remain embedded with us until this entire unification process is fully completed."
