Shaswar Abdulwahid, President of the New Generation Movement, announced that the alliance agreement with the PUK will be signed on Thursday.

Abdulwahid told a press conference on Tuesday that the agreement was approved “unanimously” by the movement, affirming that no New Generation parliamentarian is against the agreement with the PUK.

He stressed that it will be a day that will mark “a shift in the political balance of the Kurdistan Region.”

Abdulwahid dismissed reports suggesting that any New Generation parliamentarian has switched political sides.

Baghdad Visit and Kurdistan Salaries

Regarding his yesterday visit to Baghdad, The New Generation Movement President confirmed that he met with the heads of all four presidencies of Iraq.

Abdulwahid emphasized that during his discussions with Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi regarding the financial entitlements of Kurdistan Region public sector employees, the Prime Minister stressed that all employees in the country are viewed equally and salaries will be dispatched on time.

Political stalemate ongoing, PUK-New Generation Expands, KDP Call

Amid months of political deadlock following the last parliamentary election, the political alliance between the PUK and the New Generation Movement was first initiated during a joint press conference earlier this year.

They announced a preliminary merger of their parliamentary factions, combining their 38 legislative seats to balance power, while declaring that they would enter government negotiations as a unified bloc.

Earlier this week, Abdulwahid told reporters that the government must be formed and the parliament reactivated, noting that the PUK-New Generation bloc's seats have now reached 42.

In the meantime, the KDP Political Bureau urged political factions to reactivate parliament, calling on lawmakers to engage in constructive dialogue to resolve the impasse.
