SuliFest 2026 Shatters Attendance and Economic Records in Opening Four Days
The inaugural "SuliFest" national festival has generated an unprecedented wave of public attendance and local economic activity within its first four days, setting a historic benchmark for cultural events in the Kurdistan Region and federal Iraq.
Organized by the iTalk platform and hosted at Hawary Shar Park, one of the largest urban park spaces in the region, the eight-day cultural and commercial gathering officially commenced on June 26. Named after "Suli," the standard and affectionate local nickname for the city of Sulaymaniyah, the festival's footprint is organized across four specialized zones, featuring over 200 participating corporate brands and 170 independent businesses.
Record-Breaking Foot Traffic and Revenue
Data released by the iTalk organizing committee reveals that nearly 100,000 visitors attended the festival grounds during its opening four days. This turnout represents the highest recorded attendance for a public cultural festival of this framework in modern Iraqi history, putting the event well on track to hit its total projected baseline of 500,000 visitors.
The massive foot traffic translated immediately into localized economic stimuli. Within the first 96 hours, more than 600 million Iraqi dinars (IQD) in raw commercial transactions were recorded on-site. This commercial influx has directly benefited local merchants, youth-led startups, and brand booth owners operating in the park's designated Main and Street zones.
Viral Digital and Media Footprint
Leveraging a broad broadcast and digital campaign anchored by Channel8, the festival's official media partner, Suli Fest has achieved significant digital penetration without relying on paid advertising.
Between June 26 and July 1, official festival content generated 15.63 million organic views globally. This digital reach was accompanied by 104,500 verified, organic user interactions, including clicks, shares, and likes, across major social media platforms.
A Unified Cultural Architecture
The extensive eight-day program features more than 100 distinct events spanning public health initiatives, sports tournaments, educational workshops, and a massive debut aerial light show at the park's Roman Amphitheater.
"Reflecting how Sulaymaniyah is known for its diverse cultures and hospitality, this initiative aims to bring all communities together," Dastan Tofiq, an organizer of the festival, told Channel8. Tofiq emphasized that the project carries an inclusive, youth-focused vision designed to connect young entrepreneurs and creatives across the region.
