Iraqi Air Force Launches New Airstrikes Against ISIS Hideouts After Deadly Clash Near Dubiz

The Iraqi Joint Operations Command announced that the Iraqi Air Force carried out three new airstrikes against ISIS hideouts near Dubiz District on Sunday, following a security operation that resulted in the death of a Counter-Terrorism Service officer during a clash with militants.

Security Operation Followed Earlier Airstrikes

In a statement, the Joint Operations Command said the latest operation follows airstrikes conducted on July 4th targeting ISIS hideouts located along the boundary between the Federal Government and the Kurdistan Region near Dubiz District.

After the initial strikes, a security force was deployed to inspect the targeted area. During the clearance operation, Iraqi forces came under fire, leading to an armed confrontation in which a First Lieutenant from the Counter-Terrorism Service (CTS) was killed, while one ISIS militant was also killed.

Iraqi F-16 Jets Conduct Three Precision Strikes

In response, the Iraqi Air Force launched a new operation at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, carrying out three precision airstrikes with F-16 fighter jets against the remaining ISIS hideouts in the same area.

The Joint Operations Command said the strikes were conducted following joint planning and coordination through its Targeting Cell as part of ongoing intelligence-led operations against ISIS remnants.

Intelligence Cooperation and Ongoing Operations

According to the statement, the operation was based on verified intelligence from the Iraqi National Intelligence Service and was carried out in coordination with the Counter-Terrorism Service and the Kurdistan Region's Commando Forces.

The Joint Operations Command said search and assessment operations are continuing, adding that further details on the results of the strikes and the extent of militant losses will be announced after the inspections are completed.

Continued Campaign Against ISIS

The command reaffirmed that Iraqi security forces will continue pursuing ISIS remnants through intelligence operations and targeted military strikes, stressing their commitment to maintaining pressure on the group's remaining cells across the country.
