3 Billion IQD and Luxury Vehicles Seized from Hamad al-Jumaili's Home
As part of the expanding corruption investigation linked to the former Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil, Iraqi security forces have uncovered billions of dinars concealed beneath a residence and seized several luxury vehicles believed to be connected to the case.
Billions of Dinars Discovered Buried at Residence
On Monday, a security source announced that Iraqi security forces raided the home of Hamad al-Jumaili, the Director of Projects at the state-owned Baiji Oil Refinery (North Refineries Company) in al-Shirqat District, Saladin Governorate.
During the operation, authorities seized approximately 3 billion Iraqi dinars (IQD) that had been buried underground and concealed inside the residence. Investigative judges confirmed that the funds are linked to the broader embezzlement network involving the arrested former Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil, Adnan al-Jumaili.
In addition to the cash, security forces seized four luxury vehicles found at the property.
The vehicles include a Toyota Hilux, BMW, Chevrolet Tahoe, and Cadillac, all of which were confiscated under judicial orders as assets allegedly connected to the corruption network.
International Pursuit of Fugitives
Iraqi MP Mustafa Sanad stated that two brothers believed to be key figures in the network fled Iraq to France after allegedly taking $500 million with them.
In response, Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi has activated international legal procedures through the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) to issue international arrest warrants, freeze foreign assets, and recover the stolen funds.
Total Assets Seized Continue to Rise
The investigation into Adnan al-Jumaili's network has expanded into a multi-agency operation, leading to the arrest of dozens of senior government officials and members of parliament.
According to figures released by the Supreme Judicial Council, authorities have so far seized more than 98 billion IQD and $11 million in cash as part of the case, while forensic financial investigations remain ongoing.
