Seized Assets in Adnan al-Jumaili Corruption Case Rise to 127 Billion IQD and Over 8 Kilograms of Gold
Iraqi authorities have uncovered additional cash and gold in the ongoing corruption investigation involving former Ministry of Oil Undersecretary Adnan al-Jumaili, bringing the total seized assets in the case to 127 billion Iraqi dinars, $24 million in cash, and more than 8 kilograms of gold.
Additional Cash and Gold Seized in Tikrit
The Supreme Judicial Council of Iraq announced that, as part of the ongoing investigation into former Ministry of Oil Undersecretary Adnan al-Jumaili, authorities seized 25 billion Iraqi dinars (IQD), $1 million in cash, and approximately 5 kilograms of gold jewelry during a raid on one of Al-Jumaili's properties in the city of Tikrit.
Cash Concealed Inside Water Coolers
According to the Supreme Judicial Council, the suspect used an unusual method to hide the illicit funds. The Iraqi dinars and U.S. dollars discovered in Tikrit had been packed inside large plastic water cooler containers (dispenser jugs) and concealed within the residence in an apparent attempt to evade detection by security forces and financial investigators.
Total Seized Assets Continue to Grow
With the latest raid, the total amount of cash seized in the al-Jumaili case has risen to 127 billion IQD and $24 million.
In addition to the cash and gold, the judiciary has frozen and confiscated a substantial portfolio of residential properties and luxury vehicles. The Iraqi judiciary also confirmed that efforts to trace additional assets and identify other individuals allegedly involved in the corruption network remain ongoing.
Gold Seizures Surpass 8 Kilograms
Before the latest operation, security forces had already recovered more than 3 kilograms of gold bullion from other properties linked to al-Jumaili.
With the seizure of an additional 5 kilograms of gold jewelry in Tikrit, the total amount of gold confiscated in the case has now exceeded 8 kilograms.
Legal procedures are continuing to ensure that all remaining assets linked to the case are recovered and returned to the state treasury.
