Talabani Calls for 'Fair' Government and Genuine Partnership in Meeting with British Consul General
Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), met with Andrew Bizley, the British Consul General to the Kurdistan Region, emphasizing that the party seeks “a fair,” non-discriminatory government based on "genuine partnership."
The meeting took place in Sulaymaniyah’s Dabashan on Monday, in which Political Bureau member Darbaz Kosrat Rasul was present.
Cooperation to Overcome Challenges
Talabani and Bizley stressed “the importance of coordination and cooperation among all parties in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq to overcome current challenges.”

The discussions also addressed the obstacles blocking the formation of the new Kurdistan Regional Government, which has faced a severe political impasse and consecutive delays since 2024, despite several high-stakes meetings between parties and initiatives to resolve the disputes.
Talabani said that the party’s demands “reflect the people's desires for improved governance and achieving a fair and strong government capable of serving all regions without discrimination.”
“We want genuine partnership to be the foundation of our work,” he added.
