A second tanker has been hit in the Strait of Hormuz within the past 24 hours, according to the British maritime security agency UKMTO.

The agency reported Tuesday that the vessel was struck by an unidentified projectile while transiting the strategic waterway.

UKMTO confirmed the tanker sustained structural damage but noted that no casualties or environmental impact have been reported.

The incident follows an earlier attack overnight on another vessel in the same area. Qatar later stated that one of its ships had been targeted by Iran after UKMTO disclosed the first strike.
