Shaswar Abdulwahid, leader of the New Generation Movement, announced that his party has filed a lawsuit against the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) before Iraq's Federal Supreme Court, seeking to annul all government decisions issued over the past three years.

He also called for the dissolution of the Kurdistan Parliament and urged that the Kurdistan Democratic Party's (KDP) share of positions in the next cabinet be limited.

Lawsuit Filed Against the KRG

Speaking at a press conference, Abdulwahid said the New Generation Movement had filed a lawsuit with the Federal Supreme Court seeking to invalidate all decisions issued by the Kurdistan Regional Government during the past three years.

Calls for Parliament Dissolution and Reversal of Price Increases

Abdulwahid said his party supports dissolving the Kurdistan Parliament and called for the cancellation of decisions that increased electricity tariffs and other service fees.

Abdulwahid also argued that every decision issued by the Kurdistan Regional Government since July 10, 2023, should be annulled, stating that the government's legal term expired in 2023.

Position on the KDP's Share in the Next Cabinet

Commenting on the formation of the next Kurdistan Regional Government, Abdulwahid said the Kurdistan Democratic Party should not hold all senior government positions.

He argued that the KDP should hold half or fewer of the positions and said the party should occupy either the post of President of the Kurdistan Region or Prime Minister, but not both.
