Iraqi Integrity Commission Arrests Six Employees in Nineveh on Corruption Charges
Iraq's Federal Commission of Integrity has arrested six employees from the Ministries of Oil and Finance in separate operations across Nineveh Governorate over allegations of embezzlement, theft of public funds, and administrative violations.
Four Employees Arrested Over Fuel Theft
A field team from the Nineveh Investigation Directorate of the Integrity Commission carried out two separate operations at a state-owned fuel station in Mosul.
Four employees were arrested after investigators uncovered large-scale fuel theft and found significant discrepancies between recorded fuel quantities and the actual stock available.
State Revenue Found Hidden Inside Vehicle
During the operation at the same fuel station, investigators discovered a large amount of money from gasoline sales hidden inside the personal vehicle of the station's cashier.
According to the commission, the employee failed to deposit the money in the station's official safe or transfer it as state revenue, instead concealing it inside the vehicle with the intent to misappropriate the funds.
Two More Arrested at Pension Directorate
In a separate operation, the Integrity Commission raided the Nineveh Pension Directorate.
An employee and a security officer were arrested after processing an official transaction without the presence of the concerned individuals and without the required legal documentation, which the commission described as a serious administrative and legal violation.
Investigation Continues
All six suspects have been detained by order of the Nineveh Investigation Judge responsible for integrity cases.
The Commission said the investigation is ongoing and that the suspects face prosecution under Articles 315 and 331 of the Iraqi Penal Code No. 111 of 1969, which cover embezzlement, breach of official duties, and actions that harm public revenue.
