Esmail Baghaei, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, stated that Iran has taken corresponding measures whenever the U.S. has violated its commitments, as a severe escalation in military tensions continues with the United States.

Speaking during a press conference on Monday, Baghaei noted that the agreement and Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Washington had ended, adding that the U.S. is "clearly violating" it.

He stressed that Iran has stopped fulfilling its own obligations whenever the other party fails to meet its commitments, adding that they will continue to respond in this manner.

The ministry spokesperson reiterated that Tehran does not “trust” Washington.

Regarding recent tensions and heavy cross-border airstrikes, Baghaei stated that the United States bears responsibility for the recent developments in the Strait of Hormuz.

He further highlighted that the U.S. attacked Iran with the cooperation of certain regional countries.

U.S. Airstrikes and Iranian Retaliation Spark Military Escalation

The latest developments involve a severe military escalation over the weekend, during which the U.S. launched massive airstrikes against Iran following a July 11 attack on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.

In response to these strikes, Tehran declared the vital shipping route closed and targeted U.S. bases in neighboring Gulf nations, a major escalation following the initial exchange of military strikes between the two countries from July 7 to 9.

U.S.-Iran Ceasefire Collapses Amid Dispute Over Shipping Route

U.S. President Donald Trump declared that the June ceasefire with Iran is officially over, but emphasized that the U.S. is still willing to continue diplomatic talks.

Trump insists the vital shipping route remains wide open. Meanwhile, Iran’s military claims they have closed the waterway.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry characterized the recent U.S. military actions as a violation of international law. Additionally, the ministry issued a statement advising neighboring nations not to assist or permit their territories to be used for military actions directed at Iran.

Meanwhile, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf said, “The era of one-sided deals is OVER. We told you: keep your word or pay the price. Reality is knocking.”
