June Salary Distribution to Begin Tomorrow After 50-Day Wait
The distribution of June salaries for Kurdistan Region public-sector employees is scheduled to begin on Wednesday morning, following a 50-day wait. The remaining budget deficit will be covered through local non-oil revenues.
Salary Distribution Begins Wednesday
Funds allocated for June salaries have arrived at Minara Bank in Erbil, and the process of transferring them to banks in other governorates has begun.
At 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, automated teller machines (ATMs) are scheduled to be funded, allowing employees to receive their salaries through "My Account" partner banks. The distribution comes 50 days after employees received their May salaries.
Baghdad Funding and the Budget Deficit
The Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) Ministry of Finance received 841 billion and 161 million Iraqi dinars (IQD) from Baghdad for June salaries.
According to the ministry, Baghdad deducted IQD 120 billion as a non-oil revenue offset and withheld IQD 3 billion and 326 million that were allocated to retirees. As a result of the revenue offset and the salaries of newly registered employees, the KRG faces a total deficit of IQD 106 billion.
Sulaymaniyah Faces Salary Shortfall
According to the reports, each governorate is responsible for covering its salary deficit through local non-oil revenues.
In Sulaymaniyah Governorate, the June salary shortfall amounts to IQD 21 billion and 297 million. The governorate requires IQD 58 billion and 260 million to cover its share of Baghdad's revenue offset and presidency budgets, while the available local cash revenue is approximately IQD 37 billion.
"My Account" Payroll Statistics
Approximately 835,000 salaried employees will receive this month's salaries through bank cards.
To facilitate the process, 630 ATMs have been installed across the governorates and independent administrations. Banking officials also stated that efforts are underway to negotiate with the Iraqi Prime Minister to reduce the non-oil revenue offset from IQD 120 billion to IQD 60 billion.
The Ministry of Finance and Economy has warned employees who have not yet completed the "My Account" registration forms.
According to the ministry's directive, August 31, 2024, is the final deadline for registration. After that date, salaries will be suspended
