Kirkuk Provincial Council Seeks Full Disclosure of BP Contracts and Operations
The Services Committee of the Kirkuk Provincial Council has requested detailed information on BP's operations in the governorate, seeking to strengthen oversight of the company's oil, gas, energy, and investment projects.
Council Requests Documents on BP Operations
Ahmed Fatih, Chairman of the Services Committee, submitted an official request to the leadership of the Kirkuk Provincial Council seeking all documents related to BP's activities in the energy, oil, gas, and investment sectors.
The committee said the request is part of the council's efforts to independently monitor and assess major multinational projects operating in the governorate.
The committee has requested copies of all active contracts, memoranda of understanding (MOUs), and maps showing the geographic boundaries of BP's project areas.
It has also asked for official performance data and project completion rates since BP began operating in Kirkuk to verify that work is progressing in line with agreed schedules.
The Services Committee is also seeking a detailed breakdown of BP's total investments and technical commitments.
In addition, it requested information on the proportion of Iraqi and foreign employees working on the projects, as well as the number of jobs allocated specifically to young people from Kirkuk.
The council also requested details of BP's future development plans and implementation timelines.
The inquiry further asks the company to outline the main operational challenges it has encountered, the measures taken to address them, and to provide comprehensive impact assessment reports on its activities in Kirkuk Governorate.
Request Referred to Governor's Office
Mohammed Hafidh, Chairman of the Kirkuk Provincial Council, approved the request and referred it to the office of Kirkuk Governor Mohammed Samaan.
The governor's office has been tasked with collecting the requested information from the relevant executive authorities before submitting the complete file to the provincial council for review and auditing.
