Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi will soon visit Iran and Turkey to enhance regional ties and discuss key bilateral and security files. 

The upcoming regional tour follows a pivotal five-day diplomatic mission to Washington starting July 13, during which al-Zaidi met with U.S. President Donald Trump, congressional leaders, and senior government officials. 

Al-Aboudi: Regional Tour Driven by Mutual Interests 

Iraqi Government Spokesperson Haider al-Aboudi stated Monday that the two visits are rooted in mutual interests and the principles of good neighborliness. 

Al-Aboudi noted that the discussions will address multiple bilateral files and regional developments, focusing on ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions and promote stability. 

He emphasized that Iraq’s balanced relations and regional credibility enable it to support dialogue and ease tensions to bolster stability. 

Baghdad Reaffirms Restricting Weapons to State Control 

The spokesperson emphasized that restricting weapons to state control is a sovereign Iraqi matter, reaffirming that the government manages this initiative through independent national decisions under constitutional law to reinforce state sovereignty and the rule of law. 

Al-Aboudi underlined that steps taken regarding this matter represent a steadfast government commitment executed by competent Iraqi institutions.

Iraqi Delegation Finalizes 48 Strategic Deals in Washington

The Iraqi delegation finalized 48 strategic agreements and memoranda of understanding with leading global institutions, unlocking an estimated $60 billion in investments to modernize the nation's financial infrastructure and broaden revenue streams beyond oil. 

Under the Prime Minister's direct sponsorship, a major banking breakthrough was achieved through a joint agreement with the U.S. Department of the Treasury that successfully restored seven Iraqi commercial banks to international foreign correspondent banking channels. 

Furthermore, the diplomatic mission extended to Houston to secure vital infrastructure partnerships, culminating in a landmark cross-border agreement with Syrian authorities to construct a new crude oil export pipeline through Syrian territory to the Mediterranean Sea. 

Iraq’s Al-Zaidi Pushes Balanced Diplomacy 

Al-Zaidi’s upcoming diplomatic tour comes amid heightened regional tensions between the United States and Iran in recent days. 

Since taking office, the Prime Minister has maintained a policy of balanced diplomacy and regional de-escalation to navigate the conflict between Washington and Tehran. 

His administration focuses on leveraging Iraq's relationships with both nations to promote dialogue while prioritizing independent national sovereignty.
