In his message marking August 16 and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Barzani extended congratulations to the families of martyrs, the Peshmerga, party members and supporters, and the people of Kurdistan.

He said the party was established during a difficult and critical period with the aim of restoring hope and strength to the people of Kurdistan.

Barzani described the KDP as a school for freedom fighters and revolutionaries throughout its history and said it has defended what he described as the legitimate rights of the people of Kurdistan across different stages.

He said the party has remained, and will continue to remain, a vehicle for serving the people and pursuing national and patriotic goals and values.
