A number of senior Iraqi officials and members of the Council of Representatives have yet to complete their financial disclosure forms, according to information obtained by Channel8.
The Federal Commission of Integrity is compiling a list of officials who have failed to meet the requirement and is moving to take legal measures against those who remain non-compliant.
Iraqi law requires holders of special-grade positions and public representatives to disclose their assets and sources of income when they assume office and annually thereafter.
The disclosure covers properties, financial assets, and income, with the requirement intended to help monitor changes in officials’ wealth and prevent corruption and the misuse of public funds.
The commission is also examining cases in which an official's wealth appears to have increased significantly beyond what would be expected from their declared or legitimate income.
