Following a series of loud explosions across Slemani and Halabja provinces overnight, scattered debris from downed aerial objects was discovered.

Residents of Dari Ziayin village in the Qaradagh district indicated that a very powerful explosion was heard in their area. 

Due to the explosion, a fire broke out in the brushwood and vegetation of the area, and after it was extinguished, traces of a large crater were discovered in the ground.

Security agencies immediately arrived at the scene and began an investigation to determine the cause and source of the explosion. 

Fires also broke out in the brushwood and vegetation in several areas of Halabja, Darbandikhan, Sharazoor, and Zarayan; residents of the area say the sounds were sudden and powerful.

The incidents follow major local security updates yesterday, including a sweeping counter-terrorism operation by the Slemani Asayish Directorates that dismantled covert ISIS cells planning attacks in the area.

In the latest incident, three unmanned aerial vehicles targeted the Surdash refugee camp in the Slemani governorate early Monday morning, September 7, occurring between 04:45 AM and 05:05 AM. 

The Kurdistan Region Security Agency officially confirmed that the strikes caused no human casualties, while security forces have secured the site to investigate the origin and flight path of the drones.
