FYI
The OIC, founded in 1969, brings together 57 member states and serves as a forum for political coordination and cooperation across the Muslim world. Its Council of Foreign Ministers is one of the organization’s principal decision-making bodies, providing a platform for member states to discuss shared political, economic and humanitarian concerns.
Hosting the 52nd session gives Iraq an opportunity to engage directly with member states and contribute to discussions on regional challenges. The agenda comes amid continuing conflicts and humanitarian pressures, particularly concerning Palestinians, alongside broader concerns about regional stability and economic development.
The meeting’s practical significance will depend on the resolutions adopted and the extent to which member states translate shared positions into coordinated action. The OIC’s stated theme emphasizes dialogue and solidarity, while the session’s agenda reflects the range of political and development issues confronting its members.
