Iraq’s Federal Court on Wednesday ruled on the amendment to the Kurdistan parliamentary elections law and rejected the amendment.

Iraqi Federal Court President Jassim Muhammed Aboud nullified the amendment regarding the Kurdistan parliamentary elections law, dissolved the Kurdistan Region Electoral Commission, and reorganized the elections into four districts.

The Federal Court also declared the allocation of 11 seats reserved for minorities in the Kurdistan Parliament as "unconstitutional" and announced that the Iraqi High Electoral Commission will oversee the elections instead of the Kurdistan Region Electoral Commission.
