Iraqi PM meets with US ambassador ahead of visit to Washington
Iraqi Prime Minister Mohamed Shia al-Sudani met with US Ambassador to Iraq Alina Romanowski on Wednesday.
The meeting discussed issues the Iraqi prime minister is scheduled to present to Washington during his expected visit to the United States, according to a statement from Sudani’s press office.
"Discussions focused on enhancing bilateral relations," the prime minister’s office said.
They also addressed the continuation of joint meetings of the Higher Military Commission, which is dedicated to organizing the end of the international coalition mission in Iraq.
US Vice President Kamala Harris on Friday, during a meeting at the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, extended an invitation for Sudani to visit Washington to meet with President Joe Biden.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken had earlier invited Sudani to visit Washington on September 19 on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
