Iraqi Federal Supreme Court judge Abdulrahman Zebari resigned on Tuesday, attributing his decision to dissatisfaction with the court’s rulings and decisions.

“I resign because of the decisions of the Federal Court,” said Abdulrahman Zebari, a member of the Federal Supreme Court, during a press conference.

“There is the view of unilateral rule in Baghdad,” he said.

“The opinions of the two Kurdish members of the Federal Court have not been taken into account in issuing decisions, and the court makes decisions by a majority vote,” Zebari said.

On February 21, the Supreme Court issued a ruling stating that the Kurdistan Region’s parliament should consist of 100 lawmakers instead of the previously planned 111. The court also decreed that the upcoming parliamentary elections in the Kurdistan Region should be supervised by the Iraqi Electoral Commission.
