The Iraqi Ministry of Electricity announced on Wednesday that it had signed a five-year contract with National Iranian Gas Company.

According to a statement from the ministry, Electricity Minister Ziad Ali Fazil has finalized a five-year contract with the Iranian gas company for the supply of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) at an average daily quantity of 50 million square meters.

The estimated budget for the contract was not disclosed.

The Ministry emphasized that the quantity of imported gas will be determined based on Iraq’s domestic electricity generation demands, considering peak consumption periods when additional gas is required.

The contract will remain in effect until gas production from wells in Iraq is increased to fulfill all domestic demands.
