KRG condemns terrorist attack on Khor Mor gas field, calls for immediate action

In a statement, the Kurdistan Regional Government’s spokesperson, Peshawa Hawramani, strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the Khor Mor gas field.

The attack resulted in the death of four Yemeni workers and significant damage to the field, intensifying concerns about electricity shortages in the region, the KRG spox stated.

Hawramani emphasized the considerable efforts invested in enhancing Iraq’s energy sector and economic infrastructure, particularly in the Kurdistan Region.

Despite these initiatives, malevolent forces of evil and vandalism have once again targeted vital energy infrastructure, disrupting progress and causing irreparable harm.

Expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives, the spokesperson stressed the urgent need for coordinated action and assistance from relevant authorities and the federal government to bring the perpetrators to justice. The Kurdistan Regional Government urges swift measures to prevent the recurrence of such acts and safeguard critical infrastructure essential for the region’s welfare and development.

Deadly attack on Khor Mor gas field leaves four dead and six injured

On Friday evening, three individuals lost their lives, all Yemenis and six others sustained injuries in an assault on the Kormor gas field located in the southern Kurdistan region of Iraq.

According to a report by Channel8, gas production operations at the field have been halted following the attack, marking the second assault on the site.

The suspension of production at the field has raised concerns about when operations will resume, as confirmed by a Channel8 reporter.

The attack, which occurred at the same location as a previous assault, has left authorities and the local community on high alert.

Ramk Ramazan, the governor of Chamchamal district, stated that rescue teams are actively investigating the incident to gather more information and ensure the safety of those in the area.
