Two activists associated with the environmental group Just Stop Oil targeted private jets at Stansted airport, including the airfield where Taylor Swift’s plane is stationed, by spraying them with orange paint.

The activists, identified as Jennifer Kowalski, 28, and Cole Macdonald, 22, broke into the private airfield at Stansted early Thursday morning to carry out their demonstration.

Just Stop Oil (JSO) shared details of the incident on social media, stating that the activists breached the fence surrounding the airfield to demand urgent action to end fossil fuel usage by 2030. A video accompanying the post showed one of the activists vandalizing the jets with paint.

Back in February, Taylor Swift’s legal team had raised concerns about a student monitoring the singer’s jet use on social media. Despite this, the environmental activists proceeded with their protest on the airfield where Swift’s plane was located.

The incident at Stansted follows previous actions by JSO, including defacing Stonehenge and disrupting cultural events like a Proms concert at the Royal Albert Hall. English Heritage, responsible for protecting national monuments, has condemned such actions, emphasizing the need to direct protests away from heritage sites for effective advocacy.

Just Stop Oil defended their actions by calling for urgent measures to halt the extraction and burning of fossil fuels by 2030, highlighting the potential catastrophic consequences of continued reliance on coal, oil, and gas.
