Palestinian resistance group Hamas has refuted recent claims that it intends to relocate its political bureau from Qatar to Baghdad, Iraq.

Izzat al-Rishq, a member of the political bureau, dismissed the report as false, stating that there are no plans for such a move.

The speculation stemmed from sources quoted by The National newspaper, suggesting that Hamas had received approval from the Iraqi government to establish a bureau in Baghdad, with Iran providing security for its leaders and offices.

The decision was allegedly made to alleviate pressure from Qatar and the US amid negotiations with Israel over the situation in Gaza, which has seen months of indirect talks facilitated by Egypt, Qatar, and the US.

This development coincides with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s announcement regarding the conclusion of what he described as the “intense phase” of the conflict.

At the same time, Israel’s heightened military actions in Gaza have resulted in casualties, underscoring the urgency for a meaningful resolution to the ongoing conflict.
