Team from Iran arrives in Halabja to treat victims of chemical attacks

An Iranian medical team is visiting Halabja to treat victims affected by chemical weapons attacks, the director of general health in the province said.

The directorate stated that a medical team from Iran specializing in the treatment of victims of chemical weapons will make a two-day visit to Halabja to assist those wounded in chemical attacks.

Azad Mustafa Qadir, the Director General of Health in Halabja, told Channel8 the team members are the most experienced chest and eye doctors and have been treating victims of chemical attacks in Iran for years with good experience in this regard.

Azad said patients were normally sent to Iran for treatment, but this year, specialists are being invited to the Kurdistan Region.

He stated that those who wish to see the specialist team must register now to avoid disrupting the patient queue.

The hospital for victims of chemical weapons attacks in Halabja opened in 2019 for $12 million. It has a staff of 280, and 2,400 patients benefit from its services.
