Sulaymaniyah to host Slemani Symphony Orchestra’s newest concert

Under the direction of prominent composer Hardi Majeed, the Slemani Symphony Orchestra will showcase its latest artistic endeavor, enhanced by the contribution of musician Ardeshir Kamkar performing a solo Kamancha, adding richness to the concert ambiance.

The Slemani Symphony Orchestra is set to host its latest concert featuring leading musicians performing a selection of both local and international music.

Under the direction of prominent composer Hardi Majeed, the Slemani Symphony Orchestra will showcase its latest artistic endeavor, enhanced by the contribution of musician Ardeshir Kamkar performing a solo Kamancha, adding richness to the concert ambiance.

The concert is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, March 5, at 6 pm at the Talari Hunar in Sulaymaniyah.

The concert will feature 10 different pieces of music, four of which are dedicated to Kurdish composers and musicians, the most prominent of which are: The first movement of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, the Hungarian Dances No. 1 and 5 of Johann Brahms, the Matam for Orchestra of Hardi Majeed and the Destiny of Dalshad Said.

The Slemani Symphony Orchestra is kicking off with its first concert in 2024, aiming to revive international and local music while introducing classical melodies to the public.

At the same time, the group seeks to explore the creativity within Kurdish music, elevate it to orchestral standards, and foster cultural exchange between nations through music.
