Bafel Jalal Talabani, President  of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), extended congratulations to the Muslims of Kurdistan, Iraq, and the world on the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad, extending his congratulations to Muslims in Kurdistan, Iraq, and globally on the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad.

• “On the occasion of the birth anniversary of the leader of humanity, the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad (peace be upon him), I extend my congratulations to the Muslims of Kurdistan, Iraq, and the world,” the PUK President stated.

Talabani issued a statement on Tuesday to mark the anniversary, expressing hope that the “holy occasion brings blessings and prosperity to our people.”

He also hoped that the occasion “inspires us to revive the noble values of the holy religion of Islam.”

The Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the wider Islamic world are observing an official public holiday today to commemorate Mawlid on the 12th of Rabi' al-Awwal. 

Large-scale religious carnivals, public gatherings, and traditional meal distributions commenced this morning across major cities, with thousands of citizens assembling around central mosques, local takyas, and khanaqas. 

The Directorates of Endowment in Erbil, Slemani, and Duhok are organizing coordinated ceremonies and joint carnivals.

Throughout the Region, commercial districts and venues have been fully decorated with festive banners as celebrations feature spiritual recitations, hymns, and lectures detailing the biography of the Prophet.
