Channel8 obtained information from legal sources at the Slemani Court regarding the investigation conducted with Lahur Jangi, Polad Jangi, Rebwar Hami Haji Ghali, and other defendants concerning the attempted assassination of Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK).

Key Statements and Focus Area

• Rebwar Qudrat confirmed his mental fitness before the judge and insisted on the validity of all his previous confessions regarding the plot to kill the PUK President.
• Rebwar Hami Haji Ghali confessed to the presence of a drone and a sniper rifle in a City Tower apartment located opposite Bafel Jalal Talabani's residence.
• Ghali revealed that in order to prevent Talabani from being killed, he intentionally altered the sniper rifle's scope so that Qudrat would be unable to fire at the designated time.
• Both individuals named Rebwar reaffirmed that they were assigned to kill Talabani, but neither intended to execute the orders given by Lahur Jangi and Azhi Amin.

Defenses and Responses of Lahur Jangi and Polad Jangi

During the session, Polad Jangi attempted to retract his previous confessions under the pretext that he was under the influence of sedatives while injured. 

However, medical documents and camera footage recording entry into the apartment refuted his claims. Meanwhile, despite denying the assassination plot, Lahur Jangi confessed before the judge that he had met with Azhi Amin and requested heavy weaponry, DShK machine gunners, and snipers from him.

Confessions of Azhi Amin’s Associates on the Use of Drones

In another part of the session, Peshawa and Botan, who belonged to Azhi Amin's forces and were present in the apartment, confessed to the plan. 

Botan issued an official apology in court, stating that he had hidden his previous testimonies out of fear for his family in Soran due to threats from Azhi Amin. However, he confessed that his role in the attempt was to prepare the drones.

This Slemani Court session took place on Thursday. During the hearing, Ghali revealed that he had previously met Azhi Amin at the home of Lahur Jangi. 

Furthermore, Lahur Jangi noted before the judge that the killers of Murad Kani Kurdayi had visited his home. 

To date, four defendants have fully confessed before the judge to the attempted assassination of Talabani.
