Al-Walae emphasized that Iraqi lawmakers “must work to issue a resolution that obligates the government not to submit to the American will of evil, mirroring the stances taken by several countries, led by Russia and China, that reject the blockade and the policies of dictation.”
The media office of Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi announced today that Baghdad is holding direct talks with Washington to secure exemptions for certain Iraqi airports from these U.S. measures, allowing flights to resume on humanitarian grounds related to medical treatment, education, religious visits, and the interests of civilians.
The Iraqi government urged all regional actors "to engage in dialogue and negotiations" to resolve ongoing conflicts and protect the mutual interests of the region's nations and peoples.
In the meantime, Harakat al-Nujaba Secretary-General Akram al-Kaabi denounced the suspension of Iranian flights as a "submission” to the dictates of the United States, adding that the ban directly violates Iraq’s constitutional, national, and legal sovereignty.
