Tensions are on the rise as clashes intensify between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Syrian government’s National Defense Forces (NDF) in the province of Deir ez-Zor, according to Channel8 sources.

Fighting erupted when Syria’s NDF fighters launched attacks on three SDF checkpoints and attempted to advance via the Euphrates River towards SDF-controlled areas.

In response, the SDF retaliated with heavy weapons in the towns of Jazira Bushams and Bakr.

The conflict escalated further along the border of Harmushiya and Jazira Milaj, with Syrian government forces and armed groups shelling SDF-controlled towns like Harmushiya and Bakr.

The situation deteriorated as SDF forces continued to pound Syrian government military positions and armed groups in Baqras, located west of the Euphrates River.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that clashes between the two sides have been increasing daily as Syrian government forces and NDF fighters push towards SDF-held territories.

Amid the conflict, a displaced civilian was wounded and subsequently hospitalized in Muazilah, located in northern Deir ez-Zor, as reported by SOHR.
