In an announcement by the Kurdistan Regional Government Health Ministry, it has been disclosed that 80% of medications stocked in pharmacies are now under strict control and adorned with anti-counterfeit labels. However, concerns remain over the presence of unlabeled drugs in the market.

Dr. Samaan Barzanji, the Minister of Health, emphasized to Channel8 that the ministry’s teams maintain constant vigilance over the market, promptly seizing any illicit drugs infiltrating the Kurdistan Region.

“Pharmacies and warehouses found peddling illegal drugs will face severe consequences,” Dr. Barzanji warned.

Addressing the Ministry of Health’s holiday measures, Dr. Barzanji assured that comprehensive preparations have been made to safeguard citizens’ health. This includes ensuring medicine services, treatment, and patient care in hospitals are well-equipped, with daily monitoring committees overseeing operations.
