Gas explosion at Turkish restaurant claims five lives, injures over 50

A powerful gas explosion at a restaurant in Torbali, a town in western Turkey, has resulted in the deaths of five people and injuries to more than 50 others, according to Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya.

The minister confirmed via social media platform X that 57 individuals were injured due to the blast, which was triggered by a gas bottle.

The explosion, occurring south of the city of Izmir, was so intense that it was heard miles away, as reported by the official news agency Anadolu. Television broadcasts showed significant damage to the facades of several buildings and shattered car windows, illustrating the blast’s extensive impact.
