Air defenses in Syria sprung into action as they confronted an attack near the capital city, according to reports from state media.

The state-run news agency SANA disclosed that air defense systems engaged with “hostile targets in the vicinity of Damascus,” withholding any further specifics.

Although the exact source of the attack remains undisclosed at this time, initial reports from SANA often attribute such “hostile” strikes to Israel.

Since the eruption of the civil war in Syria back in 2011, Israel has carried out numerous airstrikes on the country.

In recent times, Israel has intensified its military campaign against Iranian-backed forces in Syria, particularly after its conflict with Hamas in Gaza commenced on October 7.

Israel typically refrains from commenting on individual strikes within Syria, but it has consistently emphasized its stance of preventing the expansion of Iran’s presence in the region.
