Ramadan begins Monday in Kurdistan Region

The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs of the Kurdistan Region has declared Monday the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.

Pashtiwan Sadiq, the Minister of Endowment and Religious Affairs, told a news conference the ministry’s moon sighting committee, in coordination with their sub-committees in provinces and autonomous regions, met to determine the first day of Ramadan.

He said the committee, after a detailed process of observation, has determined with legitimate evidence that Monday, March 11, will be the first day of Ramadan.

Saudi Arabia has also declared Ramadan begins on Monday, while Iran, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei begin the month on Tuesday.
