Iraq has established itself as the frontrunner among Arab nations in oil pipeline expansion, as revealed by recent data from the Global Energy Monitor platform in May 2024.

The Arabian Gulf region maintains its status as a key player in global oil pipeline construction, showcasing its substantial crude oil reserves on the world stage.

With a total of 3,830 kilometers of proposed and ongoing oil pipeline projects, Iraq emerges at the forefront among Arab countries in this sector. Currently, 75 kilometers are under construction, while an additional 3,756 kilometers are in the planning stages.

Among the noteworthy initiatives is the offshore export pipeline, valued at $416.9 million, slated for completion between 2024 and 2025 under the supervision of Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V.

This initiative aligns with Iraq’s ambitions to boost its oil production to eight million barrels per day by 2027, reinforcing its leading position as the top Arab nation in oil pipeline development.

According to data from the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC), Iraq presently operates 15 oil pipelines spanning 2,090 miles, alongside ten pipelines covering 1,530 miles dedicated to oil derivative transportation.
