Spokesperson for the Iraq’s Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) Jumana Ghalay said that the submission of candidate lists for the Kurdistan Region parliamentary elections will start on March 13 and run through March 22.

Ghalay told Channel8 that all political parties and entities registered with the Commission in Baghdad, or registered with the Interior Ministry and participating in the elections, are required to submit their lists of candidates within the specified period.

Individuals wishing to participate independently in the elections must also submit their applications within this period, she added.

Ghalay emphasized that the party leader or list leader must be present to submit the names and sign them, and any party wishing to exit a coalition must officially register its separation within the specified period; afterward, such changes will not be permitted.

The sixth term of the Kurdistan Region parliamentary elections is slated for June 10, 2024.
