Kurdistan Region President Nechrivan Barzani on the anniversary of the March 11 agreement urged political parties in the Kurdistan Region to seize the occasion as “an opportunity for mutual understanding” among them.
“The agreement was a decisive turning point and the first official document in modern history. It was the product of the struggle and sacrifices of the Kurdish people that forced the Iraqi government to recognize some of their rights, and it became the foundation of all subsequent Kurdish achievements,” Barzani said in his message.
He urged the political parties to unite and overcome the problems and disagreements in the Kurdistan Region, emphasizing the need to address challenges, preserve achievements, uphold constitutional rights, and protect the region’s federal entity.
“We must learn from the country’s past and painful history, implement the constitution, protect the federal system and the rights of all Iraqi peoples and communities, and move forward with a common vision.”
