The Iraqi Ministry of Migration and Refugees announced the return of 569 internally displaced persons (IDPs) from the Sharia camp and villages in Duhok province to their homes in Sinjar.

Iraqi Minister of Migration and Refugees, Ivan Fayeq Jabro, stated that these 569 IDPs, who had been living outside camps in the Sharia camp and Duhok province villages, have now returned to their homes in Sinjar.

The return was coordinated with the International Organization for Migration and the Nineveh Operations Command, which provided logistical support.

According to the Iraqi government’s agenda, all camps in the Kurdistan Region are set to be closed by July 30.

However, the Migration and Refugees Committee of the Iraqi Parliament believes that closing the camps by this date may be challenging.

Previously, the Iraqi Minister of Migration and Refugees noted that 28,000 displaced families remain in camps in the Kurdistan Region.
