The Cancer Council of the Iraqi Ministry of Health signed a memorandum of understanding with a foreign company to promote cancer diagnosis and treatment in Iraq.

The memorandum of understanding was signed in the presence of the Iraqi Health Minister, representatives of AstraZeneca and the British Ambassador to Baghdad.

“The aim of the memorandum of understanding is to facilitate experience exchange, train Iraqi doctors, supply medications, and modernize Iraq’s cancer treatment system,” Health Minister Saleh Hasnawi told the Iraqi News Agency.

Hasnawi said the ministry’s partnership with foreign companies will have a positive impact on the services provided to cancer patients.

“We are focusing on medication to treat lung, ovarian and prostate cancers,” an AstraZeneca representative in Iraq said.
