Three arrested in Baghdad for attempting to sell child

Iraq’s Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency said three suspects have been arrested in Baghdad for attempting to sell a child.

Iraqi News Agency reported the defendants, including one woman, intended to sell a five-year-old child for money.

The Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and the Department for Combating Human Trafficking said it monitored the information.

An intelligence team was formed and the suspects were arrested, according to Iraqi News Agency, which added the child was placed with the authorities.

The directorate also called on the public to report suspicious cases through the toll-free hotline 144.
