KRI President to visit Baghdad for diplomatic talks

The Kurdistan Region  President, Nechirvan Barzani, is set to visit Baghdad shortly, as announced by Dilshad Shahab, the spokesperson of the KRI presidency.

The visit aims to engage in diplomatic discussions and further strengthen ties between the Kurdistan Region and the Iraqi capital.

Emphasizing the importance of such high-level meetings, the spokesperson stated, “This upcoming roundtable meeting follows the President’s previous participation in similar discussions. Our active involvement in these dialogues has a positive impact, solidifying our integral role in the Iraqi political landscape.”

Highlighting the significance of promoting community engagement in the political process,  Mr. Shahab said, “Efforts will be made to ensure inclusive participation and effective representation of all communities. Upholding peaceful coexistence is a key priority for the region, and President Barzani is deeply committed to addressing existing challenges.”

Speaking on the enduring relationship with Turkey, the spokesperson noted, “Our longstanding ties with Turkey reflect mutual interests and shared goals. Strengthening economic, political, and diplomatic relations is a key agenda item, contributing to regional stability—a critical objective for both parties.”

Moreover, the spokesperson mentioned the symbolic importance of the Turkish President’s decision to include Erbil in his visit to Baghdad, signaling significant progress in Turkey-Iraq relations and reinforcing the Kurdistan Region’s pivotal role as a key player in both Iraqi and regional affairs.
