Duhok Governor Ali Tatar said on Saturday that the extent of damage caused by the recent floods was substantial.

“We bought 117 apartments for the citizens whose houses collapsed due to the floods,” he said during a press conference.

He emphasized that authorities will provide compensation to all affected individuals before Eid al-Fitr, affirming their commitment to ensuring that no citizen will be left without compensation.

“More than 1,000 houses have been damaged,” Tatar said.

Regarding the federal government’s stance, he said that “the Iraqi government has not provided assistance to us so far”.
